Materials Used: 35mm film and slides stitched with crochet thread, buttons, and slide carrousel head, Plexiglas shoulders.

Installation: Dress suspended from the ceiling, sculpture in the round.

Never Helpless Ella

26” X 36” ties are 20”

Materials Used: fabric, slides stitched with crochet thread and buttons, slide carrousel head, camera face.

Installation: suspended from the ceiling.

Detail: The slides, sewn together with buttons, typically hold shared memories. I see similar images time and time again: holidays, babies, vacations, family gatherings. It appears that we all value the same things. This confirms, for me, our shared humanity.

Gertrude’s Kitchen

Materials Used: Slide film positives, 35mm movie film, buttons, crochet thread.

Janis (vest)

Size 10 long vest 37” X 22” X 13”

Materials Used: slides removed from slide mounts, overhead transparency, crochet thread and buttons. Floppy disks as fringe, Plexiglas shoulders and slide carrousel head.

Installation: suspended from the ceiling, sculpture in the round.

On the back, overhead transparency used in my classroom to teach art history, stitched over with red crochet thread and outlined with red buttons.

Front and neck have fringe made from spiral cut floppy disks.
